about Me

Hi, I'm Maddie. I am a Disability Support Coordinator at the University of Bath, I am a Commercial Music IMA graduate and lead singer of the band neverlove. I also have Cerebral Palsy.
I go to gigs often and I could not imagine my life without live music.

But, I have also seen inequalities within the live music scene first-hand. I have lived experience as a disabled person trying to find their way in a world and industry that is not designed for Deaf and disabled people. For instance, the lack of level access in grassroots venues, accessible toilets being used as storage rooms, the nightmarish ticket booking systems, I could go on...

I dream of a more inclusive, welcoming and thoughtful music industry and I am determined to help pave the change in my local scene. Thankfully through lived experience, courses and training days, I have a wealth of knowledge when it comes to accessibility.

Recently, I received a distinction in the ‘Disability Equality for the Live Events Industry’ course through Falmouth University and have qualified as a Disability and Equality Trainer with Attitude is Everything.

With these skills, I am able to offer website reviews where I discuss the quality of the accessibility information provided on the venue’s website. My reports summarise and conclude the information and how it is presented to the reader; culminating in advice on how to make improvements in order to ensure more custom and revenue.
